Planet Smart City, in colaboration with WMF – We Make Future e Fondazione Links, is excited to launch its “Call for Innovation” aimed at startups and companies committed to fostering innovation and sustainability in the building construction and real estate industry value chain. We are looking for cutting-edge solutions that integrate artificial intelligence to create sustainable, smart and wellness-oriented communities. Also joining the Call for Innovation is the City of Turin with the “House of Emerging Technologies – CTE NEXT“, a widespread technology transfer center on emerging technologies enabled by 5G in areas of urban interest.

CTE Next, the House of Emerging Technologies in Turin, is a project, led by the City of Turin, that has been accepted for funding by the Ministry of Economic Development. The goal is to create in Turin, in close collaboration with the city’s universities (Università degli studi di Torino and Politecnico di Torino) and ten other strategic partners (I3P, 2i3T, Competence Industry Manufacturing 4.0, 5T, CSI Piemonte, Digital Magics, Links Foundation, Talent Garden, TIM and Fondazione Piemonte Innova) a diffuse technology transfer center on emerging technologies enabled by 5G, capable of promoting business development and urban innovation in some strategic sectors for Turin, including: Smart Mobility, Urban Air Mobility, Industry 4.0 and Smart City Services.

Fondazione LINKS is an instrumental entity of the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation, has been operating for about 20 years at the national and international level and aspires to promote, conduct and enhance innovation processes through research projects with a strong innovative potential and that can create an impact on the production and public sectors, confronting an international context.

Spreentech Ventures is an accelerator that researches and supports innovative startups offering products and/or services in the four thematic areas of interest: Construction 4.0, Green Building, Tech & Mobility, Smart City & Smart Building, and Circular Economy & ESG Impact. It supports each startup in defining and structuring its business model, validating prototypes or Proof of Concept (POC), managing any certification procedures, launching the product and/or service on the market, and fundraising activities.

What we are looking for

We are looking for innovative proposals that can help transform the way we build, manage and experience spaces. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

• Smart Design: AI-based solutions to optimize architectural design, increase energy efficiency, and improve the quality of living spaces.
• Sustainable Construction: AI technologies for efficient resource management, use of environmentally friendly materials and reduction of environmental impact during construction.
• Consumption Management: Predictive algorithms to prepare solutions for reducing consumption and lowering Co2 emissions, environmental protection and building maintenance.
• Community Management: IA-driven platforms to improve community management, resident participation, facilitating connectivity and safety.
• Marketing of Sustainable Housing: Proposals that integrate AI to promote the sale of sustainable housing solutions and boost environmental awareness among consumers.

CTA Next finds it useful to join the above challenge by researching AI-enabled digital solutions acting in the different pillars of the European strategy:

• Energy Systems: including the theme of promoting and managing renewable sources in urban areas towards models of renewable energy communities and positive energy districts);
• Mobility and Transport: with reference to digital solutions that can promote and incentivize slow, intermodal, collective and sustainable mobility, including electric mobility);
• Waste and Circular Economy: with particular attention to digital solutions able to promote more accurate separate collection for all, e.g., with solutions able to facilitate delivery even for vulnerable users; differentiation and reuse in supply chains of urban interest; other solutions able to positively impact the management of processes including productive ones, etc.);
• Other enabling solutions, including engagement, education and monitoring activities of active involvement of communities, businesses, other territorial entities (including private social organizations), citizen groups (with a focus on youth and vulnerable groups);
• Solutions or use cases for the development of digital twin tools, including those that foster user immersiveness toward the European “Cityverse” model;
• Community engagement and/or education solutions for reducing environmental impacts
