Description
Soilless agriculture is a method to grow crops without soil, where plant roots are supported by artificial substrates such as perlite, expanded clay, coconut fiber, etc. There are three soilless production systems commonly used at present: hydroponics, aeroponics and aquaponics. Benefits of these modern cultivation systems include: more efficient use of nutritional resources including water, improved phytosanitary conditions and standardized production. Trained technical personnel and continuous maintenance are needed to manage this solution.
