Monitoring flooding reduces the risk of economic losses, material damage or harm to people. A network of sensors integrated into the water and wastewater distribution systems and connected to a rainfall monitoring system, can be used to issue warnings in a sudden emergency (flood/stagnant water) or predict dangerous water levels, providing useful information for maintenance purposes (broken pipes or water distribution system failure).
